Pictured above, my Asian Salmonburger. Check this, and other burger recipes, out at my recent post over at wisebread.com. Enjoy!
I was so excited about the way this turned out, I had to post two pictures! I am absolutely terrible at rolling sushi. So, when I saw this "Deconstructed Ahi California Roll" that Chef Keoni Chang posted, I had to try it. Check out the video via Foodland's website. It looked so good, and his instructions were great, so I gave it a shot. It was delicious!
On impulse last weekend, we hit the Hilo Farmer's Market. Although intending to just pick up some kalamansi, I started chatting with "Josh," who was selling some locally-made beauty products. Excellent salesman that he was, I had a demo of the above body scrub right there on the spot, on my hands -- and I was sold. Shown above, left, is his "Java Mama Scrub," which contains Kona coffee, Maui sugar, brown sugar, coconut oil and sweet almond oil. Not only were my hands incredibly smooth (but not oily), but they smelled wonderful. I also purchased the little container of lip gloss -- very nice -- and the pretty soap, below. You can find their products at the Farmer's Market in Hilo, as well as on etsy.com. (www.etsy.com/shop/pbnjbeautyproducts).
Doesn't this look delicious? It was. You are looking at the Mauka Makai's Marinated Grilled Veggie Sandwich with Goat Cheese. I recently had lunch with the Hawaii Social Media Club at this new restaurant, located in Puna, near Long's Drugs. It's a nice group of folks, and Chef Thomas Aiu's staff fed us well.
The funniest moment of the lunch, to me, was when the food arrived -- and out came all the cameras to photograph it, in unison. We got some strange looks.
Everyone at my table commented on the freshness and quality ingredients. Ono! Check it out!
